The total construction cost is the total price required to build a structure or building. The cost of the project will be depending upon the various factors like material quality, structure type, and client requirements.
In this article I will explain you how to calculate the total construction cost for 1000sft area building. An average for square feet area it is required approximately 1600 Indian rupees to 1800 Indian rupees.
The total cost of project is mainly depending upon the quality of materials using to build structure.
Quality of materials in construction cost
For building construction we will use materials like cement, sand, aggregates, wood, bricks, etc. For example if we use low quality materials for construction it will take approximately 1600 Indian rupees per square feet and at the same time if we use good quality materials it will take 1800 Indian rupees per square feet area as per 2021 norms.
Example if the project is assumed to construct with good quality materials so the cost is taken as 1800 Indian rupees. The 1000 sft area the total cost required is calculated below
Total cost of Project = Area of slab X Rate per square feet
= 1000X1800
Approximately 1800000 Indian rupees (18Lakhs)
Construction cost for various works or categories
The cost of the construction for building is classified in to various works or categories
Excavation and filling
Excavation is the process of digging the soil for foundation construction and filling is the process of filling the soil after constructing foundation. For this process approximately it will take 3 percentage of total construction cost.
For the excavation and filling an average of 3% total constriction cost is required. Here total cost is 1800000 Indian Rupees.
So, Cost for excavation and filling = (3/100) X 1800000
=54000 Indian rupees.
Foundation
Foundation is the structure which is constructed under the ground to resist the building structure above the ground. For this process approximately it will take 6 percentage of total construction cost.
For foundation cost required = (6/100) X 1800000
=108000 Indian rupees
Construction cost up to plinth beam level
Plinth level is the beam sections we are resisting on the ground and which are attached to the vertical column sections. Basically the total load from the various sources initially transfer to slab through the slab section it will transfer to beams and plinth beams. For plinth beam construction also it is required 6% of the total construction cost.
Construction up to plinth beam level cost = (6/100) X 1800000
=108000 Indian rupees
Super structure work
The super structure is the building which is constructed above the plinth level mainly brick work, column construction, plastering comes under this category. For this super structure work it is required 22 percentage of total cost for construction.
Super structure work cost = (22/100) X 1800000
=396000 Indian rupees.
Roofing including water proofing
Roofing including water proofing in this case it included slab construction with water proofing material with plastering. For this category it is required approximately 16 percentage of total cost for construction this will includes the materials cost also.
Roofing including water proofing = (16/100) X1800000
= 288000 Indian rupees.
Flooring work
Flooring is the marble of tiles work used inside the building structure. Depending upon the type of marble and tiles it will increases the cost of project, an average of 5% of total cost of project is required for this case for the building.
Flooring work cost = (5/100) X 1800000
= 90000 Indian rupees.
Wood work
Basically for the doors, windows, ventilation purpose we will use wood work. For better construction class 1 teak wood is used , depending upon class the cost will various, 2 or 3 classes cost is less when we compare with class 1case.
The complete wood work in the building it is required approximately 12 percentage of total cost of the project.
wood work total cost = (12/100) X 1800000
=216000 Indian rupees.
